The Feline Advisory Bureau, with its divisions the International Society of Feline Medicine and the International Fund for Cat Welfare is looking for a veterinary and scientific coordinator. We realise that we are looking for a very unusual person but our future depends on finding this rare person who can be adaptive and far thinking; a clear performer on the world stage and to enhance, work with and develop an already dynamic and effective team. Interest in the highest standards of feline veterinary care, as well as international feline welfare issues is essential.
We are looking for a candidate with the following skills and qualifications:
- Recognised Specialist in feline medicine
- Ability to lecture to a variety of audiences from feline specialists through to cat owners
- Direct experience of working for and with multi-national companies in the field
- Direct experience of working for and with charities and other organisations in the field
- Ability to be veterinary spokesperson for the charity
- Proven expertise in liaising with multifaceted gatekeepers for pet ownership and development of evolving marketing models in responsible pet ownership
- Free to travel on an international basis for anything up to 30% of working time
- Creative excellence in persuasive media and an interest in social media and utilization of IT
- Knowledge of trends in pet ownership and decision making by consumers
- Knowledge of first and second opinion feline practice
- Awareness of different levels of feline expertise in different markets
- Ability to create relevant and appealing international feline conference programmes
- Understanding of breeder/rescue/cattery/retail application to cats and relevant issues
- Awareness of current and developing trends in cat ownership issues
- Interest in understanding issues in feline welfare inside and outside the UK
- Ability to be creative in all aspects of writing, IT, social media
- Willing to keep maintain some clinical input with cats
- Willing to work unsocial hours on a regular basis
- Salary negotiable by experience
