‘How I manage…’: Tips from the top at the ISFM feline symposium in Birmingham

The 2012 International Society of Feline Medicine (ISFM) feline symposium, to be held pre-BSAVA Congress in Hall 5 of the International Convention Centre, Birmingham on April 11, is packed to the brim with practical information for the feline practitioner. Sponsored by Hill’s Pet Nutrition and MSD Animal Health, this year’s programme has 11 half-hour sessions given by experts who have been asked to answer the question ‘How I manage…’

Professor Danièlle Gunn-Moore of Edinburgh University will kick off the day with ‘How I manage chronic rhinitis in the cat’. Jane Ladlow of Cambridge University will be providing insight into her surgical techniques for success in two sessions ‘How I manage surgery for nasal squamous cell carcinoma’ and ‘How I manage surgery of mammary neoplasia’. Other speakers, including Alex German of Liverpool University and former FAB Resident Nicki Reed of Edinburgh University, will cover the subjects of inflammatory bowel disease, hypercalcaemia, ketoacidosis and symptomatic and asymptomatic hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, feline hyperthyroidism and nutritional assessment in practice. ‘How I manage the investigation of hypokalaemia’ will be covered by another former FAB Resident, Sheila Wills of Idexx Laboratories.

Book early to avoid disappointment – this event has been sold out for the past three years.

Registration for ISFM members costs £100/€125. Non-members £120/€155. Take away lunch is included in the price. Book online (for £5 off) at www.isfm.net/conferences, where the full programme details are available, or call Amanda Dennant at FAB on 01747 871 872 to make a booking.
