With
cats now the number one pet in Britain, there is increasing pressure
on veterinary practices to provide a cat-friendly service and
be clued up on all the latest feline treatments and diseases.
In reflection of this there are now an increasing number of veterinary
practices which go out of their way to cater for the needs of
our felines and show a genuine love of cats.
One
way in which veterinary practices demonstrate their interest in
feline health is by being members of isfm. Whilst a veterinary
surgeon does not have to pass any examination to become a member
of isfm, membership does suggest a particular interest
in feline medicine.
Those
practices which have elected to become members of isfm,
benefit from the whole range of information available from us.
This includes, the quarterly CatCare (Journal of the Feline Advisory Bureau), the
bimonthly Journal
of Feline Medicine and Surgery; a full set of fab information
sheets (including new and updated sheets as and when they are
produced); reduced rates for any members of the practice to fab and isfm conferences and the Cat
Group policy statements and discussions (as and when
they are produced).
Membership
of isfm signifies that these practices are keen to increase
their knowledge of feline diseases and treatments, and have a
real interest in the health and welfare of cats.
Presently
there are around 400 practice members in the UK and
another 100 overseas. To find out more about these
practices and where they are located, please view
